This is the way to see China

We booked a 5 day trip with China Highlights through Huangshan 黄山，Anhui province, China. A perfect combination of nature (mountains), culture and lovely UNESCO heritage villages (Xidi, Hongcun). A region which is often unjustly skipped by Western tourists. Everything, from beginning to end (hotels, transport, guide, activities, meals) was perfectly organized and of top quality. Our contact person was Carol. She always responded to our questions very promptly and completely.This was the first time I booked directly with a Chinese travel agency, but I would certainly do it again and recommend it to everyone who wants to visit China.

Lijiang Ancient Town (2 hours) : It is situated in the middle area of the county, which is more than 2400 meters high above sea level. It enjoys beautiful scenes, an indeed famous city with long history and splendid culture, it is very rare in China that such well-preserved minority ancient city still exists. The old town is quite busy in the afternoon and evening with an active atmosphere of the lights and crowd. An early morning visit will be less crowded.

The Black Dragon Pool (1.5 hours) : The park holds the Black Dragon Pool and gets name because of it. The pool is listed in the Collections of Famous Pools of China because of its beauty.

Today's Activities: Blue Moon Valley, Shuhe ancient town, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Visiting Glacier Park by cable car)
Meals: Breakfast

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Visiting Glacier Park by cable car) (3.5 hours) : Taking the cable car up Shanzidou Peak, the main peak of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, you will ascend 1,100 m (3,600 ft) to Glacier Park at an altitude of 4,680 m (15,350 ft). You’ll need to walk about 40 minutes after getting off the cable car to get close to the glacier. Besides the snow and ice, the cloud sea is also a highlight when you look down.
Notes:
1)During peak times (July, August, Chinese New Year holiday, and National Day holiday), there could be a long queue for the cable car to Glacier Park. If you are not overly keen to get to Glacier Park’s high-altitude snow world, you could choose less-crowded Spruce Meadow at 3,300 m (10,800 ft) or Yak Meadow, which is a bit further from Lijiang and higher, instead for beautiful forest and meadow scenery with a background of snow peaks. Both meadows have cableways.
2)Normally, Glacier Park has least snow in July and August and has the most snow in March. The cable car to Glacier Park could be closed if it is too windy, which happens most often from December to February.

Tips: 1. The condition of restaurants in snow mountain area might be poorer than that in city area. We suggest you to have meals in the town before the visit or bring lunch boxes. 2. People with serious heart conditions should not visit the mountain. Those with less serious heart problems or with high or low blood pressure need to consult a doctor before traveling. 3. Take some warm clothes as the temperature might drop to 5°C on the top of the mountain. 4. In the high season(from April-June), you usually have to wait for 30-90 minutes for the shuttle bus and another 20-60 minutes for the Cable Car.

Shuhe ancient town (1.5 hours) : Also known as Longquan Village, it is home to one of the ethnic groups, and is just like a village forgotten by time. Featuring a nice temple complex, this village is extremely peaceful. It is a well preserved important town on the ancient tea and horse route.

Blue Moon Valley : You will take a shuttle bus to reach Blue Moon Valley, a beautiful valley near Lijiang. The water in the valley is fron melting snow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Amazing natural white water terraces are the highlights.

Elephant Trunk Hill (40 minutes) : Elephant Trunk Hill is located at the junction of Li River and Peach Blossom River. It is the symbol of Guilin with 55 meters high and got its name because its shape resembles an elephant with its trunk drinking from the Li River. The hill is pierced with many caves and topped with a small pagoda.

East-West Lane (Dongxi Xiang) : ‘East-West Lane’ (Dongxi Xiang) is a restored historical and cultural street in Guilin. It was the main street of Guilin in the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) dynasties. Nowadays, it is a good place for local people and tourists to relax, shop, and sightsee. There is a well–preserved ancient city wall, restored historic buildings, and all kinds of traditional local stores.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch. Most clients find this allowance more than adequate.

Yangshuo Countryside Visit (2 hours) : Yangshuo's countryside is known for its idyllic scenery, oddly-shaped hills thrusting to the sky. The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful, karst peaks, rice fields, clear waters, green bamboos…. Your guide will show you around the countryside with the rice paddies and the mountains.This trip will lasts for about 1.5 hours, and you will cycle for 10-12 KM. If you do not prefer biking, taking electrombile or hiking to get around are also available with no extra cost.

Tips: 1.No bike helmet is available for the biking tour. 2.The street vendors wait at certain spots on the country roads and follow the tourist to sell souvenirs; if you are not interested, do not stop as they take this as a sign that you want something. 3.The roads can be bumpy and pass through villages. It is wise to ride slowly when passing though populated areas.

Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo(by 4 star boat) (4 hours) : A cruise along the Li River between Guilin and Yangshuo(about 4 hours) is an unforgettable experience. As you take in the stunning scenery, there's something interesting to see at almost every bend in the river. Between spectacular limestone peaks you'll see graceful bamboo groves, farmers tending rice paddies, and lumbering water buffaloes pulling carts or cooling off in the river. You may see fishermen gliding along on their narrow bamboo rafts, and if you're very lucky you might see one of the famous fishing cormorants. Boats depart from various wharves, according to the height of the river at different times of the year. The Li river cruise is by a medium- size boat which can accommodate about 80 passengers. We have selected the newly operated 4 star boat serving buffet or semi-buffet lunch, at present the 4 star boat are the best.

No-show travelers will be charged 100% of the payment.

3rd the charm is charmed for the 3rd time

This is my 3rd tour of Beijing in the last 18 months and I think that speaks a little to the quality of service you get with China Highlights.The tour is well planned out, adjusted once you arrive to provide the best experience given the weather and your party size and age (this time was with my retired parents and my wife's retired parents).All in all, China Highlights is well worth the asking price. One of the biggest perks is being able to skip a few lines here and there. At least for me, that made it worth it.

Chengdu with friends

Overall, I would highly recommend this tour agency to anyone who wants to explore Chengdu and have a great time with friends. The 5 star reviews are indeed reflective of what we experience during our trip. The local guides spoke good English and this made the difference because people in these cities do not speak much English and restaurant menu is mostly in chinese (unlike Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou).
